Grilled fruit sangria in cup full horizontal featured

Grilled Fruit Sangria

  • 2 bottles Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, chilled
  • 2 cups white soda such as Sprite or 7UP, chilled
  • ½ cup fresh mint
  • Assortment of fruit such as oranges, grapefruit, peaches, nectarines,
  • Ice

Slice the fruit in large enough pieces to grill. For example, slice oranges about a ½-inch thick and peaches and nectarines into 6 wedges.

Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium high heat. Place the sliced fruit on the grill. Once the fruit starts to form grill lines and caramelize, after about 2-3 minutes, turn the fruit over and cook the other side for an additional minute or two.

Place the fruit on a plate or wire rack to cool. Let them cool completely.

In a large pitcher, add half of the fruit and half of the mint. Slightly mush them together with a wooden spoon. Add the chilled wine and soda. Stir in the remaining fruit and mint. Serve the sangria in glasses over ice.
